Rules for OEM
Street Class
Purpose:
To establish a class
using small (10.5” wide) tires which allows an economical yet very
competitive level of drag racing. Rule structure is intended to
ensure fair and open competition for all American car makes while
maintaining costs. Class rules allow one small power adder coupled
with a limited cylinder head and OEM block ensuring parts breakage is
minimized. This in turn will ensure car counts are greater and more
consistent. Also this class will allow track managers/promoters to
plan definitively ensuring events stay on schedule and are
entertaining for the spectators.

Dominating
Performance Clause
The car and driver that wins more than
three events in any single season will be considered as having
dominating performance. A weight penalty will be imposed for that car
and driver. The car with driver will be required to weigh-in at a
minimum of 100 additional pounds to the weight breaks cited above.
The car with dominating performance will be required to run heavy for
one year from the date of the third win. Weight penalty will carry
over to next racing season.
|
Rules
Committee
Rules Committee shall consist of three members in good
standing. Committee will be responsible for establishing, maintaining
and enforcing the Class rules, collecting, managing and distributing
the funds (including payouts), maintaining member roster, and dispute
resolution. Decisions by the Rules Committee will be final. Class
members in good standing will be able to cast one vote to determine
three-person Rules Committee.
Date and time of elections will be
determined. Elected Committee members agree to serve for at least one
year. If one member of the rules committee cannot serve the one year
term, a special election will be held to determine a replacement.
Committee will decide on a chairperson.
|
Members in Good Standing
Members will be
considered in good standing if annual dues are paid in full and member
is not serving a penalty for rule infraction, protest dispute or for
one year from refusal of claimer clause.
|
|
Rules Review
Rules will be
reviewed at least annually or sooner at the discretion of the Rules
Committee.
|
Technical
Inspection
All cars, safety equipment and driver’s
licenses will be subject to inspection at any time. Be prepared to
allow access to carburetor venturis, valve train, spark plugs, etc.
Also engine could be “pumped” during pre race inspection to determine
cubic inch displacement and thus weight breaks. Post race
inspection: Winner and runner-up will be prepared to remove 1 spark
plug, loosen valve train and cycle engine to determine engine
displacement. Failure to satisfy this requirement will result in
forfeiture of winnings and points for the event.
|
Protests
Protestant can only
be a competitor from the qualified field of the event. A $200 protest
fee will be paid by the protestant. If protested car or engine is
found illegal then guilty competitor will forfeit all prize winnings
for that event and the accrued points for that season. Guilty
competitor will be required to change the illegal component and
demonstrate rules compliance at next event. Protest must be filed at
or before the final tech inspection or final weigh-in of the event.
If protest is proved true through inspection or admission the $200
protest fee is returned to the protestant. If protest is found false
then protested competitor receives the $200 protest fee. Teardown is
required immediately following the event. Untimely response by
protested competitor will result in assumption of guilt and resulting
penalties.
|
Dues
Annual dues are $50
per year per car. For a member to be in good standing dues must be
received by Rules Committee at or before the first event of the year.
No refunds. Annual dues are in addition to event entry fees.
|
Points
One point will be
awarded for each round of competition won. Competitor with the most
points at the end of the season will be crowned Champion. Runner-up
will also be recognized. In the case of a tie, number of event wins
will be factored. Each event win is worth one point.
|
|
Claimer Clause
Engines, less
accessories (starter, distributor, carburetor, nitrous plate, water
pump, headers), can be claimed. Claimant can only be a competitor
from the top 4 of the qualified field of the event. A $6000 claimer
fee will be paid by the Claimant to the owner of the claimed engine.
If competitor with claimed engine refuses to relinquish engine then
he/she will forfeit all prize winnings for that event and the accrued
points for that season. Also eligibility from competition in this
class will be forfeited for one year from the date of the claim.
Claim must be filed at or before the final tech inspection or weigh-in
of the event. Claimer must provide tools, hoist, labor, equipment,
drain pans, etc. for a complete removal of engine. Untimely response
by owner of claimed engine will result in stated penalties. Rules
committee is not responsible for damage suffered during claim.
