Weatherization Day

Weatherization Day Saturday October 17, 2009 8am – 3pm. Applications taken by calling 211 August 3 - August 28, 2009 Inspection of homes will be August – October 10, 2009 Volunteer Training will be held at the West Texas Rehab Board Room 9/22/09 7pm and on 9/27/09 at 10am. Volunteer Training at Dyess AFB 9/23/09 1pm. All applicants that are approved will be called by Oct 10, 2009. Letters will be sent to those who did not qualify or whose homes we could not weatherize due to a shortage of volunteers. To qualify applicants must be low income elderly or low income disabled. We are now looking for volunteers to help with this worthwhile effort. You may volunteer as an individual or a team. The teams can be made up of your friends, family, coworkers, club members, etc. Individual volunteer will be placed with smaller teams. There is no experience necessary as we provide several helpful training sessions. Install Plastic Window Coverings Weather-strip Doors and Add Sweeps Putty Loose Windowpanes Replace Broken Glass Replace Doors/Locking Mechanisms Drain/Cover Evaporative Coolers Repair Holes or Gaps in Exterior Walls Seal Drafts at Electrical Outlets/Switches Check Need for Smoke/CO Detectors Volunteers May Not: Go into Attics Repair Central Air-conditioning Work with wiring Go up on Roofs Repair Water Heaters Repair Plumbing Volunteers Will Receive: Free Lunch on Weatherization Day T-shirts Thank You Certificate AVWP P.O.
