One of the big problems with this swap is that the new flex lines come up to the
frame from the opposite direction. The old lines loop in from the rear while the
disk lines loop in from the front. That is the primary reason I used the braided
lines and adapters. It made things much easier and I can't bend tubing for anything.
The lines clip in to the frame mount from either direction. DISCLAIMER #2: Braided line is NOT DOT APPROVED.
It is, however, used extensively on race cars. I will say that braided lines have been on the Falcon since
1994 with no adverse effects. You must make your own choice.

The left photo is a shot of the right (passenger) side line. Front is to

The distribution block on the Mustang
is where the most grief was located. I had to fabricate a new line as a jumper to the
passenger side front (the S shaped line coming from the bottom rear of the block).
A new line had to be bent up from the master cylinder to the rear brake
port on the master cylinder. (forward top)
The other master cylinder line was reused from the car. The foremost line running left
from under the block feeds the rear brakes. It was just pulled forward and attached.
The remaining line (lower right of pic) runs to the driver's front and is replaced by
braided line. The braided line from the drivers front has
a 90 degree in the end and is attached to the rear of the block. A little
persuasive metal persuasion work on the firewall
was necessary to clear the bend. The other photo is the final setup.
The master cylinder is the same as the donor vehicle - 76 Maverick. |
